Neighbourhood Planning (NP) is a new method for local communities to influence the future of the places where they live and work.
NP has been introduced through the implementation of the Localism Bill and will empower local communities to:
- choose where they want new developments (homes, shops and offices)
- influence the design features of the buildings
- grant planning permission to those they want to see go ahead
The Government wants to put power back in the hands of local residents, business, councils and civic leaders. NP is optional and relies upon members of local communities taking the opportunity to influence the future of the place where they live or work.
Lepus advises and supports any environmental planning aspect of NP including all stages of the Strategic Environmental Assessment process.
