Strategic Environmental Assessment

Strategic Environmental Assessment

Neighbourhood Planning gives communities direct power to develop a shared vision for the development and growth of their local area. Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) is used to identify likely significant effects within the Neighbourhood Planning process.

Through Neighbourhood Development Orders, communities can grant planning permission for the new buildings they want to see go ahead. They are able to choose where they want new homes, shops and offices to be built, have their say on building design and what infrastructure should be provided.

Lepus advises and supports any environmental planning aspect of Neighbourhood Planning including all stages of the SEA process. This most frequently involves providing SEA Screening advice.

SEA Screening Guidance: a document to guide NDP groups through SEA screening process, including the screening wheel of indicators.
